In what now feels like a previous life — the life before Infodation — I worked for several companies in the telecom sector. That network proved incredibly valuable when we started Infodation, some fifteen years ago. Because let’s be honest: I’m not a natural-born salesman. But I knew the market, the people, and the problems.
“Anyone who can handle telecom can solve any software puzzle.”
Still, a network alone isn’t enough. So what made the difference? We deliver. Always. No empty promises. No shortcuts. Just solid work — in an industry where “almost good” simply doesn’t cut it.
That’s exactly what makes telecom such an interesting sector to work in. It forces you to become extremely skilled at integration and migration. At building smart solutions that work with what’s already in place — while preparing you for what’s still to come.
And there’s a lot coming. Think of the rapid rise of 5G, IoT, and cloud services. That means more data — but also more risk. Because every smart sensor or connected service increases your attack surface. Security-by-design is no longer a nice promise; it’s a necessity. Especially in a sector where sensitive customer data is the norm.
Add to that the strict regulatory pressure — from data protection to net neutrality — and you realize: software in telecom must not only excel technically, but also be fully compliant with every relevant law and regulation.
It took a lot of sweat, but we made it. We’ve become a relevant player in the telecom sector. And while I find the saying “If you can make it in telecom, you can make it anywhere” a bit too pretentious for my Dutch taste — I do believe we can say this: Thanks to our telecom experience, we’ve become really good at solving complex software puzzles.
