From Dishwashing to AI Agents: Why We’ll Never Go Back
A pile of dishes, a pot of rice on the stove, an unbalanced checkbook. Fifty years ago, this could easily eat up your whole evening. Then came the dishwasher, a rice cooker and online banking. At first, people raised their eyebrows: Will that really work? But today, nobody can imagine life without them. Ask someone to go back to do everything by hand, and they’ll think you’re crazy.

Now we’re at a similar turning point. But this time, not in the kitchen — in our work. AI agents are about to take over repetitive tasks in the same way household appliances once did.

In short (TL;DR)

AI agents are the new “dishwashers” of the digital workplace — taking over the repetitive, time-consuming tasks that drain creativity and focus. Just like we’d never go back to washing dishes by hand, soon we won’t go back to manually writing tickets, updating tools, or copy-pasting data. At Infodation, we’re exploring how agentic AI can handle the digital “housework” so teams can focus on innovation, customers, and strategy.

So, what exactly is an AI agent?

An AI agent (also called agentic AI or LLM agent) isn’t some magic black box. Think of it as a colleague in the making:

  • Brain – an LLM that can plan and make decisions.
  • Senses – inputs via chat, email, Teams, or APIs.
  • Memory – the more you use it, the smarter it gets.
  • Tools – access to Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Teams so it can actually get work done.

How does this look in practice?

Imagine you’re a product owner. Normally, you’d spend hours writing user stories, reviewing requirements in Confluence, and creating tickets in Jira. With an AI agent, it goes like this:

  • You hand it a set of requirements.
  • It turns them into user stories using your template.
  • You give feedback, it adjusts.
  • Once approved, it pushes the tickets into Jira and updates Confluence automatically.

We tested this with a feature called “export to Excel.” Within just a few cycles, the agent had:

  • built a new API,
  • updated the GUI with a new button,
  • and even launched the app to test the export itself.

Like giving your developer and tester a turboboost.

Why this isn’t just nice-to-have — but necessary

Everyone in IT knows the frustration: endless admin, repetitive tasks, copy-pasting across tools. It drains energy and creativity. With AI agents, Product Owner, Scrum master, developers, and even sales can finally breathe. They can focus on customers, innovation, and strategy — instead of digital “dishwashing.”

So what’s next?

Of course, questions remain: how do we stay in control? How do we ensure security? But let’s be honest: nobody wants to live without a dishwasher again. Why would we keep doing manual tickets and copy-paste work?

Our vision: in the near future, Infodation could spin up dozens — even hundreds — of AI agents for our customers. Agents that handle the tedious tasks, so people can focus on the work that actually moves the needle.

In other words: the “housework” of your workday will soon be just as naturally outsourced as the dishes at home.
